Buying Historical Romance Novels

There are hundreds of online bookstores, so which one should you buy from?

 

After some research, the two stores which come up as best value in most cases are Amazon and the Book Depository. The Book Depository is especially great for countries that don't have an online Amazon store as they offer free worldwide shipping and their prices are very competitive.

 

You can use book comparison sites to find the best online price however they are not always 100% accurate. Books are normally available from multiple publishers and many of the book comparison sites don't retrieve prices from them all. The links can sometimes be incorrect as well so you have to do your own checks.

 

My analysis, in terms of price, has been for purchasing new books, used items are different kettle of fish altogether and the cost of e-books is similar to paperbacks and more than used.

 

I have completed a cost exercise using two different books - The Devil's Brood by Sharon Penman and The White Queen by Philippa Gregory.

• Half.com - Price is correct however when you click to purchase book has been reserved by other buyer, notifies you to purchase from other seller however these prices are more expensive than Amazon price.
• Book Depository US - Cheapest price book is out of stock
• Book Depository UK - Price at site is $12.16
• Amazon US -  The new Amazon price of $11.69 is correct however what the book comparison site doesn't tell you is if you spent over $25 at amazon you could actually buy the book for $10.88.
